e4 Mobility Alliance  for Advanced Transportation

e4 = Energy, Equity, Environment, and Economy

Advanced transportation industry leaders engage around new market trends, future programs, partnership building, talent development and policy advocacy through the e4 Mobility Alliance Council.  The Council’s e4 logo reveals its focus –– all relevant and timely goals for industry leaders.  The e4 Council’s focus for the 2021 and 2022 center on the electric vehicle industry ecosystem in Southern California.

 e4 Mobility Alliance Goals

  • Spread awareness of LA County as an Advanced Transportation Capital
  • Leverage the region’s intellectual property, research and workforce training assets to grow the Advanced Transportation industry cluster
  • Advocate for legislative agenda and public policy that foster growth of the industry cluster
  • Develop and implement industry cluster growth strategy

Southern California has a significant cluster of EV companies including software, design studios, and full production sites that include passenger, shared mobility, truck, drayage and passenger bus vehicles.  EV industry “clustering” is also supporting geographically concentrated growth in jobs, innovation and commerce, as suppliers and related businesses locate nearby.  LAEDC’s e4 Mobility Alliance and integrated programs help the industry overcome challenges and connect with growth opportunities. Our B2B matches, impactful policy work, talent pipeline development and convenings nurture growth of this ecosystem.

About e4 Council Meetings

The e4 Mobility Alliance meets quarterly, with attendance open to the public, and serves as the convening platform for industry, government, education and other stakeholders who are collaborating to increase the strength of the advanced transportation ecosystem in Southern California.  e4 meetings tackle current issues and opportunities, provide attendees with insights on the future of the industry, connections with new partners, and exchange of ideas with government leaders.

Attendee engagement advances the programs of e4 that assist and attract regional ZEV manufacturers and related EV infrastructure companies, and other local industry growth in autonomous vehicles, micro-mobility, ride sharing, car sharing and technologies that can be exported all over the world.  Formed in 2010, e4 advances LA’s ability to address global climate change and creates a future-forward industry that will provide well-paying jobs and career pathways to provide more opportunity to the region’s residents.

In support of jobs in LA’s key industries, LAEDC takes the market intelligence developed through its economic research and combines it with findings derived from its daily interaction with business owners, input from e4 participants like you, and economic development best practices to inform its policy proposals and advocacy positions, to help facilitate growth and more inclusive economic opportunity for area residents.  By working with LAEDC, you can act on issues important to you and LA’s residents, and drive systems change collaboratively with LAEDC.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Expanding opportunity for people of color and underrepresented communities in LA’s well-paying industries is a major focus for LAEDC.  In the context of electric vehicles, air quality will improve dramatically in underserved neighborhoods if we put more zero-emission and electric vehicles on the road, a step towards environmental justice.  Transportation access and shared car EVs are also priorities and LAEDC helps connect these solutions to underserved communities.
