LAEDC members are invited to attend LAEDC’s June 16th Board of Governors meeting, with honored guest speakers Governor Newsom and Supervisor Hilda Solis. There has been much going on at LAEDC with new initiatives like the LA Digital Equity Action League, redoubled efforts to assist small businesses operated by women and people of color, new reports including the Center for a Competitive Workforce report on Occupations Through the Lens of Race and Ethnicity in the LA Basin, and much more progress from our programs.

LAEDC Board of Governors meeting with speakers Governor Newsom and Supervisor Hilda Solis
Wed 16th Jun 2021 PDT
Gavin Newsom is the Governor of California, former Lieutenant Governor of California, and former Mayor of San Francisco. Newsom is widely recognized for his willingness to lead – repeatedly developing, advocating, and implementing innovative and groundbreaking solutions to some of our most challenging issues. On a wide range of topics including same-sex marriage, gun safety, cannabis, the death penalty, universal health care, access to preschool, technology, criminal justice reform, and the minimum wage, Newsom stuck his neck out and did the right thing, which often led to sweeping changes when his policies were ultimately accepted, embraced, and replicated across the state and nation.
Hilda L. Solis is a lifelong resident of the San Gabriel Valley. A graduate of Cal Poly Pomona and USC, Supervisor Solis has served on the Rio Hondo Community College Board, in the State Assembly and State Senate, and in the House of Representatives. Prior to becoming Supervisor, Hilda L. Solis served as Secretary of Labor under President Obama, the first Latina to ever serve in the Presidential Cabinet. Today, Supervisor Solis represents the San Gabriel Valley, Northeast, Southeast, and East LA as the Los Angeles County Supervisor for the First District.
