LAEDC’s Juneteenth expansion of the Black Los Angeles County Economic Report documents Black leadership, enterprise, and wellness as regional infrastructure. Building from the inaugural 2026 Black Affinity Report, this expansion brings into view the civic leaders, institutions, entrepreneurs, healthcare providers, cultural anchors, and cross-sector partners shaping economic opportunity across Los Angeles County.

The report is organized around three connected pillars: Collective Leadership, the Black civic infrastructure; Collective Enterprise, the Black creative economy ecosystem; and Collective Wellness, the South LA Healthcare Corridor. Together, these sections show how representation, ownership, creativity, health, workforce pathways, research, and global engagement operate as shared systems rather than isolated efforts.

Released in recognition of Juneteenth, the expansion reflects a central premise: freedom must be organized into opportunity. Black Los Angeles is not waiting to be discovered. Its assets, talent, institutions, and leadership are already building the region’s future. The opportunity now is to align investment, partnership, and strategy at the scale of what this community has already produced.

This report builds upon LAEDC’s inaugural Black Los Angeles County Economic Report, which established a countywide baseline for understanding Black economic participation, workforce trends, entrepreneurship, housing, education, and community well-being. Together, the original report and this Juneteenth expansion provide a broader view of Black Los Angeles County: one documenting key economic indicators and outcomes, the other exploring the leadership, institutions, ecosystems, and partnerships that help shape them. Readers are encouraged to begin with the original report to understand the foundation upon which this expansion is built. Read the original report.
