Business Spotlight: Essential Merchandising

In celebration of Black History Month, Jaynessa Rose stands as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women-owned businesses, as she shares her remarkable journey from a humble home-based idea to a flourishing Amazon FBA enterprise. With the support received from Mevan Randeniya, Regional Manager on LAEDC’s Business Assistance team, Rose obtained necessary permits and access to finance and was able reach new heights in business and also prevent seven employees being laid off.

Rose’s venture began with a simple concept: leveraging the power of e-commerce through Amazon’s Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) program. Operating from the comfort of her home, she meticulously crafted her business model, starting with the online retail arbitrage method to find products that could be turned into profit and furnish her sellers profile on the Amazon platform.

Through dedication and strategic buying, Rose’s business steadily gained traction, attracting a loyal customer base and generating significant revenue. As demand for her products surged, Rose recognized the need to expand beyond her home setup.

Transitioning from a one-woman operation, Rose established a dedicated office space equipped with inventory storage facilities, shipping station, and hired employees to carry out various tasks of the business, from merchandising to logistics. This pivotal step not only streamlined operations but also allowed for scalability and growth.

“When stay at home orders were in place, I had to pivot and pull some skills from my Product Development major…” the FIDM alumni remarked, reflecting on her journey. “Turning my home-based idea into a thriving business has been immensely fulfilling, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent women-owned businesses, especially during Black History Month.”

With her success story, Rose aims to inspire others, particularly individuals from underrepresented communities, to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. In addition to her business endeavors, Rose offers consulting services, providing aspiring entrepreneurs with invaluable insights and guidance on launching their own ventures.

“I believe in paying it forward and empowering others to achieve their goals,” Rose affirmed. “It’s about passion, perseverance, and seizing opportunities. With the right mindset, you can see results as well.”

As Rose continues to chart new heights with her Amazon FBA business, she remains committed to fostering inclusivity and diversity within the entrepreneurial landscape, serving as a role model and catalyst for positive change.

For those seeking to embark on their own entrepreneurial journey, Jaynessa Rose’s story serves as a testament to the transformative power of determination and innovation. Aspiring entrepreneurs are encouraged to reach out to Rose for consulting services and embark on their path to success.
