This convening will bring together leaders across industry, education, labor, public sector, and SMEs to discuss key findings from The Impacts of Generative AI on LA’s Labor Market report, and begin shaping actionable solutions for the region.

Key Themes:
  • Significant but uneven impact: ~119K projected job displacement (~1.7%) in LA over the next 3 years, with ~$8.3B in wage impact
  • Disproportionate effects: Office/admin roles and workers with lower formal education face the highest risk
  • Automation vs. augmentation: Some roles decline while others—especially healthcare, legal, and creative—see growth and productivity gains
  • Reskilling imperative: 70%+ of impacted workers have adjacent pathways, but many will require targeted upskilling or career shifts
  • Sector variation: Faster adoption in business, finance, and tech; slower in construction, healthcare delivery, and physical work
This is a working session designed to move beyond insights and begin aligning on regional strategies, workforce solutions, and policy considerations.

This convening is powered by The Eli Broad Foundation.
