EVENT RECAP: 88 Cities Summit

THE FUTURE OF LOS ANGELES IS ALREADY TAKING SHAPE.

At LAEDC’s 2026 88 Cities Summit, leaders from across Los Angeles County came together at Archer in Hawthorne around one question: How do we position our cities, businesses and communities for the economic shifts already underway?

The answer crossed industries and city limits.

Advanced air mobility. Bioscience. Aerospace. Healthcare. Artificial intelligence and the changing workforce. Digital infrastructure. The investments surrounding the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

These are not distant opportunities. They are reshaping how Los Angeles County moves, works, competes and grows now.

And no single city, company or institution can capture their full potential alone.

ONE REGION. 88 CITIES. ONE ECONOMY.

Across the Summit, a clear picture emerged: Los Angeles County’s competitive advantage is not found in any one industry or jurisdiction. It is found in the connections between them.

Cities are making land use and infrastructure decisions that will determine where emerging industries can grow. Employers are looking for talent and places where they can invest. Educational institutions are building new pathways into rapidly changing careers. Public and private partners are rethinking mobility, connectivity, healthcare and the infrastructure required for the next economy.

LAEDC brings those pieces together.

The 88 Cities Summit connected the leaders making local decisions with the industries, institutions and partners shaping the region’s economic future. It turned regional intelligence into relationships, and relationships into opportunities for action.

WHAT’S NEXT IS ALREADY HERE.

The conversations made one thing clear: preparing for the future is no longer enough.

Los Angeles County has the industries, talent, institutions and global visibility to lead. The opportunity now is to connect those strengths across all 88 cities so that investment in one part of the region creates opportunity throughout it.

That is how a regional economy becomes an Economy for All.
