This report is the fourth in a series of affinity-focused publications examining Black, Women, Latino, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, and LGBTQ+ communities across Los Angeles County.

Building upon previous editions, this report explores the histories, demographic trends, economic contributions, and structural conditions shaping Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities throughout the region.

The theme of this report, Out of One, Many, reflects a central reality of the AANHPI experience in Los Angeles County. While often grouped into a single demographic category, AANHPI communities encompass numerous ethnicities, languages, migration pathways, faith traditions, and lived experiences that cannot be understood through a single narrative.

This diversity has helped shape communities across the region and contributed to Los Angeles County’s position as a global center of commerce, entrepreneurship, culture, and international connection. Understanding these distinctions matters because broad demographic categories can often conceal important differences in economic experience and outcomes.

This report examines those complexities through demographic analysis, historical context, economic indicators, and community perspectives to better understand how AANHPI communities contribute to and help shape the regional economy.
