Los Angeles County’s economic strength lies in its diversity, but shifting employment trends reveal new challenges for regional competitiveness. Produced by LAEDC’s Institute for Applied Economics, the 2026 Industry Clusters Report examines employment, wages, and competitive strengths across 23 key industry clusters. The findings reveal that while sectors such as business services, biopharmaceuticals, and healthcare experienced job growth in 2025, many of the region’s most specialized industries—including entertainment, aerospace, and apparel—faced employment declines.
The report provides economic intelligence to help business, government, and community leaders better understand these shifts and identify priorities for strengthening workforce development, business growth, and long-term regional competitiveness.
