This report is part of LAEDC’s Affinity Report series, which examines the communities, institutions, and industries that shape Los Angeles County’s economy.

This edition focuses on Armenian and Iranian communities — two distinct communities with different histories, migration pathways, and cultural traditions. Rather than combining their experiences into a single narrative, the report examines each on its own terms while exploring the economic and regional connections that bring their stories together.

Using demographic and economic data, historical context, and community perspectives, the report examines where Armenian and Iranian Angelenos live, work, build businesses, sustain institutions, and contribute across industries. It also highlights where existing data may not fully capture the scale or complexity of those contributions.

Ultimately, the report seeks to make these communities more visible within the economic story of Los Angeles County and provide a stronger foundation for workforce development, business growth, community investment, and regional partnership.
