At UCLA, 290 medical research centers and distinctive institutes are defining the role of a great research university in the 21st century. Where desalination was developed in its first practical form. And where technology is reshaping the world — from software clouds that monitor electric vehicle charging stations to devices that deliver transplant organs warm and beating.
A great deal of this inventive success is due to the Technology Development Group, which manages an active portfolio of 2,950 inventions while also evaluating new technologies, pursuing patents and assisting in UCLA faculty startups.
