LA’s ocean economy explored in two Altasea webinars

LAEDC’s Bill Allen was one of several panelists in a pair of recent webinars, discussing the potential for LA County to create more innovation businesses and jobs in the “blue” or ocean economy.  Following up on the recent LAEDC report, The Ocean Economy in Los Angeles County, speakers from several innovation businesses discussed LA’s opportunity, and were optimistic about the potential for LA’s sector to grow and develop the products, services, technologies and exports that will support sustainability and elevate LA’s role as a global center of innovation in this sector.

Altasea hosted the webinars as part of its mission to spur this growth by providing a hub for research, translation, commercialization and business incubation.  The Altasea facility at Port of Los Angeles, with direct ocean access and 400,000 square feet of space, is at the beginning stages of build-out and seeking businesses, research programs, and investment to further this mission.
