AB 1250 Update

We are pleased to report that Assembly Bill (AB) 1250 (Jones-Sawyer) did not get out of the Rules Committee (Senate) and will not go to the Governor. The LAEDC thanks all of our partner organizations and individuals who helped take a stand and present a unified and strong opposition against this bill. Had it been signed into law, it could have suppressed the ability of local governments to rely on nonprofits, such as the LAEDC, and small businesses, as vital partners, to help fill gaps in services that government may be ill-equipped to provide.

And while we were successful in keeping AB 1250 from becoming law, we know that this might not the last time that we mobilize together to avert a potentially catastrophic outcome. Thank you to everyone who made their voices heard on this important issue.
