FDI_Expo bannerL.A. County is hosting the first Aerospace FDI Expo, backed by SelectUSA, to increase international investment in jobs-creating businesses here in the region and in the nation as a whole.  The fact that L.A. was chosen by the Obama Administration’s SelectUSA program, US Department of Commerce and the Aerospace States Association is a nod to the L.A. region’s nexus of aerospace industry strength, international trade, and successful FDI return-on-investment.  The event runs Oct 26-28, 2015 at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza, 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, 90067

Expo is First-ever Forum to Focus on Investment Opportunities within the Aerospace Sector

LOS ANGELES – The Aerospace States Association and the U.S. Department of Commerce are joining forces to co-sponsor the National Aerospace Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Exposition (Expo), October 26-28, at the Hyatt Century City Hotel in Los Angeles. It is the first-ever event designed to highlight opportunities in the U.S. aerospace manufacturing sector for foreign investment.

The Expo is designed to enable international investors to meet face to face with U.S. economic developers and features a roster of federal, state, and local government officials and private-sector leaders who will offer valuable market intelligence to international and domestic businesses. It offers prospective investors resources to facilitate decisions on where and how to establish or expand their operations in the United States. The event will feature one-on-one meetings, as well as workshops geared specifically to aerospace manufacturers, such as contracting with the Defense Department and Federal Aviation Administration regulatory requirements.

U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Stefan M. Selig will deliver keynote remarks that will explain that the investment and trade aspects of Trans-Pacific Partnership will reduce or eliminate barriers in partner markets that will favor U.S. manufacturing. He will also discuss how the agreement will help the aerospace sector strengthen its global supply chains. In addition, California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti have been invited to deliver remarks at the Expo.

The United States is the world’s leading destination for new business investment. According to the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis, the United States is home to more FDI than any other country, with $2.9 trillion in stock as of the end of 2014. At the end of 2014, the inward stock of FDI into U.S. aerospace products and parts manufacturing industries totaled $22.5 billion, growing annually since 2008. This 6.3 percent compound annual growth rate through 2014 outpaced the compound annual growth rate of FDI positions in transportation equipment manufacturing and even growth in FDI of all industries during the same period.

The Expo is co-sponsored by the Aerospace States Association and the U.S. Department of Commerce. ASA represents the grass roots of American aerospace and aviation, and is comprised of Lieutenant Governors, Governor-appointed delegates, and associate members from the aerospace industry, academia, and non-profit organizations.
