California added 461,850 jobs during 2014, and LA County added 96,600 jobs, more than previously thought. This information was made available today by the California EDD, with the upward revisions based on its rebenchmarking of jobs data. This is an annual exercise that the California EDD performs every March. This job growth is consistent with LAEDC’s view that Southern California is experiencing strong growth.

LA County’s unemployment rate in January was 7.9%, down from 8.8% one year ago in January 2013.
The U.S. national unemployment rate fell to 5.5% in February. California will publish February jobs/unemployment data on March 20th.
LA County job gains for 2014 were led by industries such as:
- Professional business services
- Trade, transportation and utilities
- Education and Healthcare
- Leisure and Hospitality
- Construction
