California State University, Los Angeles – College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology offers programs leading to Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or with a Special Option; Bachelor of Science in Computer Science; Bachelor of Science in Aviation Administration, Fire Protection Administration or Industrial Technology (industrial technology even offers courses in electric, hybrid and alternative fueled vehicles). CalState LA is in the ECOCar2 Challenge, which is hosted by the Department of Energy and General Motors. CalState LA’s ECOCar2 Challenge project is “designing a parallel through-the-road (PTTR) plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).” For more information on their project and team, go here.
Cal State L.A.’s Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Education (HFCE) project was also ranked number one among 13 educational programs funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The university will shortly open a public hydrogen station to provide fuel for Los Angeles area vehicles.
