The U.S. Department of Energy has started the Clean Cities program, comprised of over 1,00 coalitions of cities and other transportation-related organizations, including utilities, vehicle manufacturers and government agencies.
The main focus of Clean Cities is to help deploy alternative forms of transportation including electric vehicles. They work to convert government fleets to alternative fuel vehicles, including PEVs, which are more fuel efficient and have lower emission. This helps meet federal, state and local government fleet requirements. Additionally, Clean Cities Coalitions work to provide the support for alternative fueling infrastructure.
